Molland & Yeo Valley

Molland is a small, quiet village on the southern edge of Exmoor, with an Inn, a shop and a church.  The church is mainly 15th century and is unusual because it has 'escaped' restoration by the Victorians.  The furnishings are mainly Georgian and the pews are high sided 'horse box' affairs.  In 1804 the infamous hunting Parson Froude became vicar of Molland and Knowstone.  He had a reputation as a tyrant and is said to have retained a private army of tenant farmers, grooms etc. for terrorising his enemies.
The London Inn is next to the church.  A 15th century former coaching Inn, this fine, small country hostelry retains its rustic charm; open log fires, inglenooks and beamed ceilings.  Good ale straight from the barrel, fresh-cooked food and B&B accommodation are available.  There is a legend that during the days of John Knight, (see Simonsbath) a gang of his miners who,  happily drinking a weeks wages away,  were driven out of the London Inn by their angry wives who had marched from Simonsbath!

A traditional stone-built Inn on the edge of Exmoor. Situated off the A361 North Devon Link road, just outside Molland in a quiet primrose-covered valley, it is the ideal place to relax, try a local ale and enjoy some home-cooked food. The non-smoking dining room and childrens'/games room makes it ideal for families. Eating outside in the large beer garden is a delightful way to make the most of the peaceful summer evenings. A heated indoor swimming pool along with a games room is available from May to
September for our visitors. Accommodation is available in the form of two self catered holiday cottages behind the inn or camping and caravanning in the adjacent Yeo valley Holiday Park.
