TIDES Tides along the North Devon/Somerset coast in the Bristol Channel are some of the fiercest in the world with heights of 15m common and great care is required by visiting yachtsmen. Bathers should also heed any warnings given at the various beaches along the coast. Some beaches are almost fully covered by high spring tides.
