Exmoor map

TO SEE A GENERAL MAP OF THE EXMOOR AREA:-

ORDNANCE SURVEY PRINTED MAPS:-

Landranger 1:50,000 (1.25 inches to the mile)
Sheet 180 "Barnstaple & Ilfracombe" covers the moor from Simonsbath westwards.
Sheet 181 "Minehead" covers the moor from Simonsbath eastwards to Wellington.

Tourist touring maps (1 inch to the mile) (out of print but still available from some stores)
EXMOOR

Outdoor Leisure 1:25,000 (2.5 inches to the mile)
Sheet 9 This is a double sided map - East of the moor on one side, West of the moor on the other. Also available in waterproof, coated format.

ONLINE MAPS:- How to use Streetmap.co.uk

FOR ACCURATE, DETAILED MAPS WHICH PIN-POINT A LOCATION:-

Clicking on MAP or an underlined postcode (ab123cd) or Grid Ref. (ab123456) in whatsonexmoor will automatically force 'Streetmap.co.uk' to open in a new window with a map showing the location pin-pointed.
This can be done manually if there is no automatic link, as follows :-

Clicking on Streetmap (top menu of every page) will open the 'streetmap.co.uk' website in a new window on top of this one. Type the postcode or grid ref. into the maps' search box, select the 'type' of number (ie. Postcode, Landranger grid ref.) and up pops your map!
Note: the map resolution can be changed to see a wider or more detailed area (click the + - icons below the map). These maps can be printed just like any web page.

TIP: Use "copy/paste" to easily insert the numbers from whatsonexmoor into the Streetmap search box. (ie. highlight the postcode or grid ref text using your mouse. press Ctrl c on your keyboard. point your mouse at the input box on streetmap and press Ctrl v ).

Another online Internet mapping service is :-
www.multimap.com which is similar to Streetmap but the maps are smaller.

Formats :-

POSTCODE: format is:-

ab123cd (ie. ta247qr) lower case text can be used.
You must select "Postcode" under the search box when using Streetmap.

GRID REFS: format is:-

AB123456 (ie. SS995402)
All grid refs. given on this website are Landranger refs. You must select "Landranger Ref." under the search box when using Streetmap.
